The Silent Divide

While distance and division may widen the space between you , take care to the division within, thats what separates you.

There are moments

when silence speaks louder than words,

not a gentle silence,

but the kind that carves distance,

a canyon slowly widening

between what was once close.

Trust does not always shatter

with a single strike.

Sometimes it erodes quietly,

grain by grain,

until one day you realize

the ground beneath your feet

is not where you thought you stood.

And so the divide grows,

not with noise,

but with the whisper of absence.

You feel it before you see it,

like the faint tremor of earth

before the cliff edge crumbles.

What falls away was never yours to hold.

What remains is the quiet knowing

that the soul sees more clearly

when the noise is gone.

~Kerri-Elizabeth~

But silence never stays still. It gathers, it thickens, and it waits. Tomorrow, we step closer to the shadows that rise where trust once stood.

  1. This is such a beautifully poignant piece. 🌿 The imagery of silence carving distance and trust eroding “grain by grain” is both delicate and powerful, capturing the quiet, almost imperceptible way relationships can shift. The metaphor of a canyon widening and the trembling earth before a cliff crumbles is hauntingly vivid, reminding us how loss often arrives in whispers rather than storms.

What I love most is the gentle wisdom at the end—that even in absence and quiet, the soul learns to see more clearly. ✨

  2. Your powerful metaphors create vivid imagery for some of life’s most difficult separations, which you’ve endured. Watching you walk through this with amazing insight is so inspirational, Kerri. I just want to wrap my arms around you! I’m grateful you have shared so much with me.

  3. Yes, silence can shape and stretch us, but even in the stillness, God is near.

When trust fades and the ground feels uncertain, remember this:
“The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.”Psalm 34:18

Even when things fall away, He remains faithful, steady, unshaken.
God Bless You, today and always…
