“Reclaiming Your Space”

“Not every energy belongs in your body, release what isn’t yours.”

Being around others, especially family, means absorbing stories, moods, expectations, and histories that don’t belong to you. After gatherings, it’s common to feel heavy or scattered without knowing why. This is not weakness, it’s the sensitivity that lets you care deeply.

Reclaiming yourself is not selfish, it’s necessary, return to the practices that ground you: a long walk, a hot shower or bath, sitting by a window in silence. You get to sift through what lingers on and give back what was never yours to carry.

Exhale the pieces
that weren’t yours to hold.
Call your spirit back,
gently and boldly, with love.

Gentle practice:
Stand outside and breathe out slowly three times.
On the third breath, imagine releasing every emotion that isn’t yours.

  2. So true. We take on so much that was never meant for us. Christ reminds us to cast our burdens on Him, because He cares for us. When we release what isn’t ours, His peace fills the space. Come to Me… and I will give you restMatthew 11:28 🙏

    • Exactly… I sometimes visualize a sifter (sounds strange maybe but the visual always works for me)and if it’s all clogged up nothing can go through… nothing moves and nothing can get in or out, blocking our peace and Gods presence. Grace always enters when we leave behind what isn’t ours and allow the flow. I want Gods presence and grace to have space to teach, to grow, to show and it’s my responsibility to let go so He can flow through me.

      • Absolutely. That’s a powerful way to look at it. When we hold on to what isn’t ours, everything gets clogged, just like you said. But when we release it, God’s grace finally has room to move. I want that same flow in my life too. His presence shaping, teaching, and growing me. Beautifully said.

        • It’s a wonderful flow when we find it and sure does help me let things flow through rather than camp out inside for that reason. I sure don’t get it right all the time but getting older sure has given me some insights from experiences doing it the stop so flowing way . 😂

  4. That’s what I learned at the last family gathering: what is mine versus what is others’. I actually separated myself from the family, went and journaled, and then returned with clarity ✨
