When Stillness Feels Uncomfortable

“Discomfort often appears right before grounding.”

Silence can feel unsettling
when we’ve learned to stay busy.

Stillness brings us face to face
with what noise has been covering.

But nothing in stillness is harmful.
It only reveals what’s asking for care.

Stay long enough,
and the discomfort softens
into understanding.

  1. So true. Stillness can feel uncomfortable at first, but it helps us heal and grow.

Psalm 46:10Be still, and know that I am God. In quiet moments, God meets us, brings peace, and gently restores our hearts.

  2. Such a gentle, reassuring reflection. Your words beautifully capture that quiet truth we often resist—that stillness isn’t something to fear, but something that lovingly reveals what needs our attention. The way you describe discomfort softening into understanding feels both comforting and wise, like a soft reminder to be patient with ourselves. This is the kind of writing that invites readers to pause, breathe, and truly listen within. Truly calming and deeply meaningful.

  3. Beautiful, Kerri! Of course, it is best to face things and silence is usually when they pop up.

Your reminder is gentle and profound. Thank you, my friend!
