She is my “Lovely” daughter

My heart with a paintbrush of expression.

When you think it’s too late , when you believe you can’t or you choose “I won’t” for the moment, inspiration will lift you and pull you to your feet. 

Will you listen , will you rise, will you pull up courage and determination, will you work hard, will you strengthen where you feel weakest, will you believe in yourself and encourage your own destiny to be all you want to be and find out you can be even more along the way, will you raise the bar for yourself , or not? 

Here is a story of my 39 year old daughter, she is an inspiration, a light in the world that carries deep pockets of courage and determination and she believes she can and there for she does. 

Many years ago she wanted to be in law enforcement but life had other plans for her to learn from first. She became a very successful business woman at an early age. No surprise there she was determined from day she arrived in the world , actually before that. (that’s another story).

Then she went on to create herself even more success in another career and had two beautiful children. So many changes and so much growth along the way but an unsettled desire to be in law enforcement. 

I’d asked her everytime I called” what are you doing”, she’d answer with reservation “I’m at work” , there was something missing, was it desire, a passion, so one day I asked “if you could be anything what would it be?” She answered , a cop or an English teacher. 

I don’t know how many times in the day she wondered and thought about all this, but I know it all became a decision and off she went. I have no idea if my questions opened a door that she needed a little crack to see through or if something I said mattered.

What I do know is that it’s important to challenge a thought and ask questions, that’s where exploring ideas, sparking dreams and possibilities come from. It isn’t our place to push, it’s our place to listen, ask and open doors where possibly over time we become so settled in what is we forget what’s possible or believe it’s too late.

Her answers prompted me to ask more questions. I could hear her working through it with more than wonder and one day she said “I’m going to take my law enforcement test.” Then she got her book to study and reinforced her love for working out and she made a goal, her dates kept getting moved closer and closer than planned and soon she was done testing , wow the depth of tests and paperwork were amazing. 

I want to tell you this story because her inspiring strength and determination to DECIDE and take the leap is a testament of what inner strength and courage can do, how it’s never too late even if you have already built success, which she did. She could have stayed doing what she was doing forever. 

What is success to you? 

Here is my painted expression highlighting her new courageous journey. May she always be safe protecting our communities with many brave people like her and may her success in all things bring her and her family happiness and a legacy of courage that continues in for generations.

Focal Point

Have you ever had a disagreement with someone while you’re looking at the exact same thing and both of you see it completely different or you both hear something and hear it completely different?

How can that can even be possible, you’re looking right at it, or hear it clearly and so do they.

Have you ever continued to disagree, trying to convince the other person your point of view or look at them like they lost their noodles, feeling your adrenaline rushing as you’re trying to make them see and hear and feel what you are, needing it as if you need air for that moment?

Frustration , misunderstanding, different interpretations and now a full blown meltdown you can’t get them to understand or see what you see. Rejection sets in, abandonment, turmoil inside is triggered and love is left behind by emotions you had no idea where there.

Over time and through growth and experience the solution is found, seen, worked on, you’ve now come to a place these things just don’t bother you, until one day it shows up again……

How do you react or respond ,not to the other person, but to YOU?

Our reactions and responses are purely from our own point of view, we have to make room for change, recreating , healing and intentionally wanting to be a better version of ourselves , while leaving room for others to do the same, “Write It” and you’ll see.

Separately Found While Always Connected

and emotion.

Present in the connection

River roaring to its chosen audience

Birds performing a soul moving orchestra

Trees adding their own rhythm practiced daily with precision 

While the breeze so eloquently smooths every tune into an inner song

All echoing from the majestic mountains offering a priceless concert

An invitation is not needed

A willingness to enter  is

Intense scents of pine inspire your deepest senses

Sweetly journeying through every fiber of pain transforming it into gratitude

Resting freely a top one of nature’s boulder strengths

Love and connection are found

Separate and clearly joined

Birds sing to one another as if love is all that really exists

Is it…..

The sound of the river takes no space, instead joyfully takes ownership of its existence to nurture presence

It carries wounds down that never return

It erases hardship without asking

The aroma of the river and pine create a tea for you and nature to thrive upon

Each needle left upon the ground leaving a legacy of its time here

Burn marks upon the trees carry a wisdom into healing and regeneration

Under a shade tree where leaves are dancing with the peaceful melody of nature

Crackling through the small breeze I can hear them wrestling with one another in harmony

Madrone tree, you have won my heart in this moment

Feeling your presence offers protection

Standing with all that surrounds you in such beauty

Breathing life with your unaltered energy

Free to believe, to stand, to bend, to flow, to grow

Gratitude is running deep for the confidence you radiate so freely

Thank you for sharing 

For shading

Thank you for the cracks you so proudly show as warrior wounds of your life

Thank you for sharing space with the earth’s delicate growth around you

Thank you for the soul food

Thank you for speaking such volume

Thank you for the confidence to stand beyond any doubts

Thank you for the invitation into this sacred space, to be loved, to sit with the uncomfortable and linger in your zesty energy

When I lost my son 3 years ago , I had no idea the roller coaster of emotions that would take over my body, mind and soul. I had no idea that even with so much love imbedded inside me that grief has its own path and respecting it, is vital. Healing occurs daily, but what I found out most in this 3rd year , that isn’t different than the prior years, I just didn’t figure it out until this year. That all pain lingers within grief, so when anything else hurts it opens the loss of my son again and again.

Maybe next year it’ll be different now that I figured that part out, but mostly what I want to share is that pain needs a place to feel freedom to fly, to soar and change and to grow and heal. All love remains even when pain shows up, however for someone looking in without the experience, it often is uncomfortable to see, to watch, to be patient in the process.

It is not something that is meant to be hurried or told to let go of or change. It is a personal process and every person is so different. Let it be, so it can see, so it can feel, let it be, so it move and not get stuck.

Pain is also a protector, something we hang on to in fear of letting go and being undone, or without, fear and pain dance a beautiful dance, awareness is a beautiful addition. You can dance with it or you can hold it so tight along with fear that you become unaware you’re not moving.

Move, create or find a space you feel free to feel, to think, to be all of who you are with all your emotions and feelings and then a new way will begin.

Heart in Motion

In the randomness of life emotions are often spontaneous

We feel from a heart in motion

Rapid change can prompt a rapid heartbeat

Our inner compass and weather changes without warning

Breathing is treated as a novelty

Until breathing is done with awareness

Our bodies shivers to alert our temperature

Gratitude alerts hope

Pain alerts fight or flight

All of this alerts action

Straight to the heart of it all

Nurture your heart like you’d nurture the tears of a child

Breathe into your life, with heart

When we master the awareness in our alert systems and the timing we take action, we then have less reaction and more action.

Place your hand upon your heart and navigate through a flow of emotionally filled words and thoughts that fill you up, that nurture you’re well being. What would you say to a friend you are nurturing? This may help you return that same encouragement also to your own heart.

Did you know that every change in emotions makes changes in your body that last longer than the emotion. Like building a muscle may leave pain for a couple days, the same is true of emotions, both rejuvenating and depleting. They last and they will either drain or revive us.

We can not control every action around us but we can learn to create a healthier space within ourselves to see the actions around us with a directed gratitude and compassion to our heart for alerting us.

Inquire Within

Trust is developed from how you inquire from within!

Dare to live with a curious inquiring from within
Believe in something you’ve never known
Trust in your heart with out questioning the mind
How many petals do you need to land on “love me” to believe it
Renew your spirit and polish your curves
Surround yourself in natures lights
And rest into the darkness of the glowing night

Trust is not broken from another action, unless we define it that way.  Once someone wrongs us, we stay within that action and own it and live it, losing trust and limiting our love for life and our ability to connect with others.

If we hold that wrong, we then continue to give power to the wrong and the person we feel that did it. In the process of healing I found there also has to be a letting go of distrust and caution to a point you are limiting your own life.

Live with freedom and send back any bad energy to the person dealing it. The minute you decide to give yourself permission to interact within a negative space you take that energy on as your own.

Sender wins and the loss of trust is now building from within.

If it’s being delivered negatively it’s not yours, breathe and physically move your arms in a way that you can mentally, emotionally and physically remove and send it back to sender.

DONE, move out of their energy space, build trust within yourself, this is where defense is dropped. When we respond in defense we have already lost, defense is guilt, a place within we lost trust.

Believe in something you never have……..an example might be believing that 10 deep breathes before you respond will save you a rollercoaster of reactions.

Encouragement

Encouragement is a melody that is continual when embraced through love.

When love and grace weave into your energy space

Whispering currents of encouragement tantalize your soul

Creation already knows

Reflections become whole

Blue skies don’t fall

You’re part of it all

A masterpiece is not created by day

Perseverance tiptoes all the way

Continual loving persuasion is self-made

Love and grace are always embracing you, are you able to receive?

Loving persuasion is self made, it is not something you can count on another for, it is a strength you receive through faithful encouragement that comes from Gods perfect grace.

The stresses of life can catapult us into distraction of self, forgetting we are a vessel for more than anyone can fill  leaving us defensive and unable to unwind.

It is in the glory of knowing when we trust Gods plan and we trust ourselves with what He has given us and we are responsible with his blessing than we see the fruits of our perseverance.

Stand in the knowing, not in the doubt, not in mans word, and not in things but in the promise of Gods love that can only flow when we first let go.
